Walks together on the accessible city wall and through the narrow streets of the old town take you straight back to bygone times and resurrect the Middle Ages: Rothenburg presents itself as a walk-in history book with lively chapters.

The 7-hour program “Middle Ages Adventure” was designed especially for school classes aged 12-3, which brings the students closer to Rothenburg’s past:

On a city tour, participants learn about everyday life in the Middle Ages and the differences to today in a child-friendly and playful way. In the historical vault they visit the state dungeon, which was used as a prison for a long time in the Middle Ages. In the RothenburgMuseum, a former Dominican monastery, everyday monastic life at that time can be experienced in an entertaining way through practical exercises.

This makes learning fun!

A bookable city tour is also aimed particularly at kindergartens, school classes or youth groups and explains interesting topics such as “Middle Ages”, “Urban Development” or “Estate Society” in age-appropriate language.

And of course a stylish overnight stay should not be missing from the medieval program during the day: The Rothenburg youth hostel, which is housed in the 500-year-old Roßmühle and a house in the Spitalhof, welcomes small and large guests.
