Romantic Road: Best of Bavaria – classics from north to south

This holiday route has a melodious name - the Romantic Road is the most famous holiday route in Germany. No wonder, you can experience Bavaria in all its diversity here.

In addition to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the highlights include Würzburg with its Residenz and Weinfranken, the medieval towns of Dinkelsbühl and Nördlingen as well as Bavaria's third largest city of Augsburg and Landsberg am Lech.

The southernmost end point and a fantastic postcard backdrop is of course Neuschwanstein near Füssen with the Alpine panorama in the background.

You can easily travel the Romantic Road on your own thanks to the extensive signage - whether by car or bicycle. A slightly different experience is taking the bus on the Romantic Road. For those who want to stretch their feet a little longer, a hiking map will help. In addition to the long-distance hike on the Romantic Roads to many places (including Rothenburg ob der Tauber), there is also a circular hike that can easily be completed in one day.

From Würzburg, follow the “Romantic Road” signs.
