Youth leader Markus Scheuermann is a multiple German parachuting champion and is pleased with the popularity that the niche sport is gradually gaining: “We have more and more people who are inquiring about it and then trying it out with us here as a tandem jump passenger. Many people then stay in Rothenburg the whole weekend and look around the city.” As a guest, you have to plan around 90 minutes for the jump itself, including instructions and dry-dry practice.   Scheuermann himself took part in his first jump at the age of twelve, and he ventured out of the plane for the first time at the age of 16. “My father is an enthusiastic skydiver. “First in the Bundeswehr, later as a hobby,” Scheuermann shows that he has grown into his passion. To this day, Scheuermann continued, the extreme sport of skydiving remains a niche. That means you go to the airport in the morning and come back in the evening.” The reason for this is the planning measures and the unpredictability of the weather.

Scheuermann himself is one of the best in Germany; it takes 800 to 1000 jumps to get into the high-performance segment in this area. There are then another 50 to 100 training jumps per year. Markus Scheuermann has specialized in the discipline of parachuting, which can be divided into three sub-areas: in the “quick landing” a light mark is passed on the ground and the distance that the jumper then covers is measured. In the “Speed” area, the time that the jumper needs between two light barriers on the ground is measured. And in the “zone target” segment, the measurability of success follows the logic in darts: the more centrally located in the target zone, the better.
