The Walter John Foundation has the task of preserving the memory of the painter Walter John - at the will and with the means of his wife Edelgard John. The gallery is therefore a contribution to the painting of his time and would like to tell all visitors that every time has its art and its artists and that Walter John has an excellent place of his own here.

Etchings – collected by the artist

What? The graphic collection combines etchings from the 16th century by Dürer and van Leyden, Rembrandt, Goya, Munch and Renoir, with those by contemporary artists such as Hrdlicka, Janssen, Göttlicher, Richter, Fuchs, Kneffe. You can also try your hand at a printing workshop.

Quick fact: Ingo Domdey is an artist himself; he acquired many of his etchings in stock by exchanging his own works.

Definitely do: At Ingo Domdey you can also become active yourself: a printing workshop allows you to try out the etching technique yourself.

“Ceramics - Art - Crafts - Design” is the motto of Evelyne Weiß's ceramics workshop in Rothenburg's Galgengasse. The range of handmade ceramics ranges from beautiful everyday items such as cups, jugs and vases, to decorative items such as door signs and jewelry. The Evelyne Weiß ceramics workshop is also the right address for individual ceramic commissions.

The Rothenburg ob der Tauber eV art circle was founded in June 1990 on the initiative of Rosemarie Richter. The association's task is to maintain and promote cultural life in the Rothenburg area.

Today the art group has 105 members. The active members of the artist community present their work several times a year in Rothenburg odTauber and other cities and communities. The exhibitors want to stimulate the population's interest in art and contribute to the dialogue between West Central Franconia and other regions.

During the tour of the artist's house, originals using lacquer techniques and emulsion paint as well as watercolors, art prints, catalogs, books and DVDs can be purchased.

It all started in 1981 in Aichtal, south of Stuttgart. Ursula Leyk made a little house out of clay as a toy for her 3-year-old daughter. Everything developed from that. At little Miriam's request, she then formed a "light house" because a candle also had to be in it. After a month, a small village was already on the table. Miriam's father, Bernd Schulz-Leyk, was spontaneously enthusiastic. Neighbors and friends were delighted. After a successful test at the Esslingen Christmas market, a new business idea was born. After two years, demand had increased so much that the family had to leave their small farmhouse. In 2 they moved to Franconia to an old rectory with a barn in Wörnitz. Five years later we moved to the new ceramics factory on Erlbacher Str. in Rothenburg.

This area with a gentle south-facing slope appealed to Bernd Schulz-Leyk and he began to dream of a wonderful garden...
In six years of work, he transformed the slope into a magical water garden based on the Asian model. Today you can watch the production of the light houses and this garden at Erlbacher Straße 108. the lotus garden, enjoy.

Willy Kammleiter, born in 1959, lives and works in Finsterlohr, Franconia, a small town above the Taubertal, between Rothenburg and Creglingen.

For more than fourteen years he has artistically combined metal, wood and light in his studio. For him, his colorful light objects are not lamps made from leftovers; rather, for him they represent the artistic implementation of everyday themes of his environment and his time. Kammleiter's topics are always current issues of society, culture, politics and the individual.
