Give away – provisions for the trip and those staying at home
Auch Culinary can be packed wonderfully in Rothenburg ob der Tauber: you can buy regional wines from the Rothenburg winemaker, smoked goods from the regional butcher or of course the legendary Rothenburg snowballs.
Exclusively only at Plönlein: Rothenburg's wine shop
If you stop by the Glocke Hotel and Winery and can't get enough of the Thürauf family's delicious Franconian wines, you won't have to go far. Right next to the inn is the shop with wines from the family's vineyards. In addition to the classic grape varieties such as Bacchus, Johanniter, Silvaner or Riesling, guests can also purchase rarer wines such as Tauberschwarz, Muskat-Trollinger and Süßschwarz - and only here. Behind the shop is the family's wine cellar, where groups can experience atmospheric wine tastings.
Sausage and co.: butcher products from Franconia
What would Franconia be without its sausages – people everywhere are proud of HIS bratwurst. Butcher shops offer a variety of homemade sausage products. Local butchers can also be found in the streets of Rothenburg's old town, offering their regional products. Particularly suitable for take-away: smoked bratwursts!
Traditionally good: the Rothenburger Schneeballen
A culinary souvenir are the famous Rothenburg snowballs. This regional specialty, which stands out because of its peculiar shape, is made from shortcrust pastry according to a centuries-old recipe.
Original snowballs are served with powdered sugar - classic in white. Of course, there are now variations for chocolate lovers and every taste.
