Toppler Theater

  • Highlights in summer

Great art on the city wall – theater summer in the Toppler Theater from June 19.6th. until August 30.8.2024, XNUMX.

Where? Small but nice is the motto of the Rothenburg Toppler Theater, this unique open-air stage in the north courtyard of the former Dominican convent and today's RothenburgMuseum. A summer stage where Shakespeare would have enjoyed - with a charming historical ambience in the heart of the old town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. With historic stair railings, a playable city wall and four entrances and exits, the natural stage is a real eye-catcher.

What? The picturesque audience room, nestled against one of the oldest sections of the Rothenburg city wall, can accommodate up to 138 people and experience culture up close.

The main pieces of each summer season are in-house productions, which are complemented by a colorful program of various guest performances. The prominent names who have appeared or directed here in the past include: Petra Kleinert and Gerit Kling. Well-known plays that have already been shown at the Toppler Theater include: “We're Away for a Short Time” by Tilmann von Blomberg and Bärbel Arenz or “39 Steps” by Alfred Hitchcock and John Buchan.

Quick fact: The Toppler Theater enters its seventeenth season in 2024.

Don't miss: In addition to the two main plays of the season, visitors to the Toppler Theater can once again expect an attractive range of guest performances this year. Regular guests include, for example, the partners of the Rothenburg Hans Sachs Games.
