Reiterlesmarkt 2024 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

  • Highlights in winter

At the end of the year, the city presents itself at its most beautiful for romantics. Nestled in the picturesque setting between the town hall and St. Jakob, the Reiterlesmarkt is considered one of the most attractive Christmas markets in Germany.

Where? The Reiterlesmarkt in Rothenburg ob der Tauber traditionally takes place between the market square, green market and church square as well as in the atrium at the town hall. In addition, the entire old town is decorated with bright lights during Advent!

What? The Alt-Rothenburger Reiterlesmarkt is THE Christmas market in Rothenburg ob der Tauber and is one of the most popular Advent markets in Germany. The market with its 54 stalls is open daily from the Friday before the 1st of Advent until December 23rd. Brass groups from the Rothenburg region play every day on the stage at the Green Market.

Quick fact: It's worth taking a closer look at the town hall during Advent. Every evening a self-designed Advent window is opened on the second floor. The windows were made by school classes and youth groups from the region.

Don't miss: The Reiterlesmarkt in Rothenburg ob der Tauber traditionally opens on the market square on the Friday before the 1st Advent. First, the rider arrives on horseback in the market square and greets those waiting. Then the large Christmas tree in the center will be lit up after the greetings of the mayor of Rothenburg.
