Citizens' festival on the occasion of the reaffirmation of urban freedom privileges, exactly 750 years ago.

Market Square, from 18 p.m

  • Fanfares of the marching band of the Historical Festival
  • Ceremonial address by the mayor Dr. Markus Naser
  • Opening music for the stage play by Karl Wüst. This rarely performed musical prelude is presented by the municipal youth brass orchestra under the direction of Jan-Peter Scheurer.
  • Scenic excerpts from “Meistertrunk” directed by Reiyk Bergemann
  • Performance by the flag-waving group Bandierai degli Uffizi from Florence
  • Handover of the imperial city privilege certificate to the city
  • Fanfares from the marching band herald the start of the citizens' festival on the Green Market

With the citizens' festival, Rothenburg is also metaphorically celebrating the reconquest of freedom privileges after the corona pandemic. The Bavarian state government is therefore supporting the festival with funds from the special fund 'Revive inner cities'.
